I AM FREE!!! School ended Friday. Grades turned in, supplies tossed in my studio for sorting later. I am meandering through rainy mornings sipping hot tea by candle light, amidst freshly laundried linens. What an amazing week it has been! The staff at Live are beautiful, and Kelly and Regis are the best!They made us feel relaxed behind the scenes -- always. ...Somewhere between teaching an African American Traditions course I taught for the first time this past fall at Bloomfield College. Showing students how to create their own paper quilts. And, reflecting on the end of the year, I began making a cloth quilt....

I have been home for five days now… really resting…. I have crossed the Tappan Zee Bridge from Nyack to Tarrytown and points beyond perhaps dozens of times since moving to New Jersey in 1999. Always fascinated by the idea of Nyack, New York, a dotted cluster of buildings peeking out from foliaged perches along the Palisades on the west bank of the Hudson River. Yesterday, I put on my favorite red baseball cap, black high top converse, and a pair of jeans and traveled northwest in a light rain to Lambertville, New Jersey. Several weeks ago now, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a pre-party in New York City sponsored by The Brodsky Center at Rutgers, in New Brunswick, New Jersey to honor Faith Ringgold.
