For the past 12 years since moving to New Jersey, I have visited Asbury Park with my fiancee and later husband dozens of time. We have a sister church there and a dear friend, who has been in ministry with my husband since the beginning. So our trips are always been in the evenings for church services....
The other week, me and road-buddy Michelle headed to the seashore because we noticed the Novagrats (a husband and wife design team featured on Style Network) featured Asbury Park vintage/antique shops on their show.
All I can say is WOW. What an oasis!! Not just for shopping, but eating and site seeing as well... The City has reinvented its main street and board walk. It is alive with lots of vintage and unique shops all is one long stretch that leads right down to the old board walk at the shore. Not to mention the fact that Red Bank, with its cluster of six large antique malls is twenty scenic minutes up the road. (I actually did Red Bank the following week, and lunched at the Molly Pritcher Inn -- wonderful!). Just start early and go later in the week. Some shops open Tuesday and Wednesday, but not all. Thursday, Friday, or Saturday are better days....
